SYNOPSIS:

A freak ski accident brings nineteen-year old Mia Kinney within minutes of death. Hurt and scared, Mia is calmed by the southern drawl and clear green eyes of her rescuer.

Twenty-one year old Dylan Blackburn is one of the first Ski Patrol members on the scene. As his patient is airlifted to the local trauma center, he can’t shake her from his thoughts.

As Mia fights for her life, Dylan, is haunted by the blond hair beauty, and knows he needs to make sure she’s going to be okay.

With a troubled past Dylan has vowed never to completely open himself up to another girl, but Mia continues to knock down every wall he’s constructed. When his past arrives at his front door and threatens once again someone that he loves, will Dylan be able to save Mia yet again? Or will he be too late this time?

A story of love, friendship, and the determination to turn a horrible experience into something worthwhile.

Here goes my review for the second book in the Riverview Series, A Healing Spirit, by Ms. Melissa A. Hanson (www.mahwriting.com) 😁 … (Sorry for the late publish, I’m really busy with acads.)

MY REVIEW:

This book, just like the previous one, starts with another life-changing accident. Mia, Bailey’s best friend, is the poor victim. She falls off a chairlift while they are having their mini-reunion in a ski resort. Fortunately, a gorgeous Ski Patrol member with a southern drawl, Dylan, comes to rescue her – he then became her lifeline.

The story is still centered on Riverview but it focuses more on the mountains and ski resorts. The author describes the place in a way that I myself would want to go there and ski! I badly want to experience the winter season (because here in PH we only have the rain and summer seasons) and having read the book makes me want it even more!!!!! How I wish I could switch places with Mia. 😁 Speaking of, Mia is a brave girl, considering what had happened to her. But there’s one thing I don’t like about her – she easily falls for a guy he barely met. NO HATE, okay? It’s just that I really can’t believe that she immediately gave him her number, regardless of the fact that he had saved her life. Hey girl, maybe he’s a psychopath that saves people and eventually kills them himself!

But I can’t blame her, she was placed in different surgeries and maybe the anesthesia was still affecting her during that time. 😁 Dylan, on the other hand, is a brave boy but full of fear and anger. I have nothing against him, just except for that fact that he also immediately fell in love with the girl he barely met. (I’m being redundant here.) Nonetheless, he is a keeper. ❤️‍

The story went pretty well, I must say. There were times when I was thinking that nothing significant would happen next but then a revelation would come up. Surprises are like the foundations of this story.

On the other hand, there was a point where I was somewhat annoyed with how the characters were behaving and was ready to throw the book at the wall or out the window.(Sorry Ms. Melissa. ✌️ )

Mia and Dylan are like two lovebirds that can’t be separated and all they can say are cheesier-than-cheese lines. Maybe I’m not just used to reading cheesy lines and scenes from a novel. Some of them are a bit unrealistic; I couldn’t imagine hearing and seeing them in real life. Maybe I’m just bitter or something. Sorry but I’m not that hopeless romantic. (Maybe just a little 😁)

However, this story has a mission – to inform everyone, especially those who are fond of skiing, to always take safety precautions. Skiing is a very dangerous activity so people should always bare in mind to be properly equipped with safety gear, and make sure that the ski resorts have safe amenities. HAVE FUN BUT STAY SAFE!

*****

Things, whether good or bad, all happen for a reason. In this book, bad things happen but they still have unexpected beautiful outcomes. Bad things are like “blessings in disguise”, just waiting for us to properly understand and interpret them in a positive way. So when problems come your way, don’t give up so easily. They will just test your strength and courage. Believe that you will overcome them, and you will – for sure.  Xoxo

MY RATING: ❤️‍❤️‍❤️‍❤️‍
